Overview:
Works closely with the crew, inspects crew work, discipline,
supervises navigation bridge when captain is not on duty or
unavailable. Reports directly to the Captain.

Captain's required licenses preferable and all applicable
certifications by a recognized maritime government body, USCG
registered. Extensive experience with minimum three to five years in
subordinate positions on board ships. Solid experience in all
navigational electronic and computerized equipment. Graduate of
accredited maritime training school or facility.
Salary Range
$3,750-4,200 per month.

3-4 months on/4-6 weeks off.

Maintains radio communications between ship and shore, skilled

on board ships. Solid experience in all navigational electronic and

Overview:
Responsible for passenger and crew fire drills, abandon ship
procedures, crew fire safety training,

Graduate of accredited maritime training school or facility.
Background in security or military
preferable.

$2,000-2,600 per month.

Overview:
Position on Kastaway Island's deep sea fishing vessel.
Responsible for all fishing charters. Responsible to customer for

eight years in subordinate positions on board ships. Graduate of

Cruise Staff Department
The cruise staff department is responsible for running the day-to-day
passenger activities, entertainment, shows, games, lectures, fitness,
etc. If you work within the cruise staff, you must possess strong
social skills. Do you enjoy working as a team, meeting and talking to
people? Do you possess the necessary social skills required? If so
Kastaway Island is looking for you. 99.9% of your job is socializing
with passengers. Always wear a smile, be courteous and ready to help
out at a moments notice.
The cruise staff are the most highly visible members of the crew on
board so when you leave your cabin, it's show time! Kastaway Island is
looking for cruise staff members that may double as entertainers. If
this is the case, a strong entertainment background is a prerequisite

Overview:
The cruise director is "Commander-in-Chief" of all on-board
entertainment, creates, coordinates, and implements the daily program,
acting master of ceremonies at social activities and evening shows,
port talks and lectures. Acts as a liaison between passengers,
officers, and crew. Reports directly to the hotel manager. Prior to
arrival in each
port, a lecture is to be given by the port lecturer outlining a brief
history of the city or country, followed by an explanation of the
city's sights, characteristics, how to get around, warnings, etc. The
lecturer must also develop a current port information sheet for
port-of-call wherever no port information exist. The information in
the port
information sheets should be consistent with the lecture material.
When necessary, he is to coordinate this information with the shore
excursion manager and local port tour agents. Serve as a source of all
port
information and general inquiries for passengers. Assist at shore
excursion talks and/or slide presentation as directed by shore
excursion manager. Assist shore excursion department in loading and
unloading tour transportation and escort tours as directed by the
shore excursion manager. Effective communications with shore excursion
department.
Participates in activities and other various duties as directed by the
cruise director. Highly visible and accessible to passengers
(socialize!) Assist in lifeboat drills as instructed. Reports directly
to the shore excursion manager or
Cruise Director.
Requirements:
Professional entertainment background with a 15-40 minute variety show
(singing, magic show, et.)
preferred or 2-5 years on board working your way up from an
entry-level cruise staff position. Public speaking, delegate
responsibilities and possess strong organizational abilities. Strong
personality and extraordinary diplomatic skills essential. Manage
cruise staff and work well with shipboard officers, crew, shore side
office management, and
local port officials

Assistant Cruise Director
Overview:
The assistant cruise director is "the right-hand person" for
the cruise director. He/she manages and
directs the day-to-day operation of activities and makes sure that
passengers get involved.
Coordinates the cruise staff personnel activity schedules, insure that
all materials and personnel are in
place before and during the cruise, supervise and act as master of
ceremonies at specific passenger activities as directed by the cruise
director, and assists in creating daily program. Assist in lifeboat
drills as instructed. Reports directly to the Cruise Director.
Requirements:
Entertainment, recreation, hotel or resort experience preferred or 1-2
years on board working your
way up from an entry-level cruise staff position. Public speaking.
Strong personality and social skills
required. Manage day-to-day cruise staff personnel, representative
liaison for the cruise director
between the cruise staff and other department heads. Knowledge of
foreign languages is preferred
but not essential.

Overview:
The shore excursion manager or tour manager is primarily responsible
for the presentation, promotion, supervision and arrangement of the
shore excursions offered in the various port-of-call by the company.
Usually acts independently of other departments on the ship because it
coordinates with people off of the ship. Presents shore excursion
talks and/or slide presentation. Updating of all shore excursion
forms. Effective communications with port officials. Written and
financial reports weekly presented to the cruise director and hotel
manager. Participates in activities, escort's tours and other various
duties as directed by the cruise director. Highly visible and
accessible to
passengers (socialize!) Assist in lifeboat drills as instructed.
Reports directly to the Cruise Director or hotel manager.
Requirements:
Experience in tourism, previous travel-related experience such as a
land tour director essential and/or minimum 1 year on board starting
from an entry-level cruise staff or assistant shore excursion manager
position.
Public speaking. Strong personality and social skills required.
Knowledge of foreign languages is preferred but not essential.
Salary Range:
$2,000-3,000 per month plus the possibility of a percentage of shore
excursion sales revenue.

Overview:
Administrative assistant to the cruise staff department, most notably
the cruise director. Handles

department materials. Miscellaneous administrative duties. Assist in
lifeboat drills as instructed.
Reports directly to the Cruise Director.
Requirements:
Strong administrative skills required; typing, accounting, etc.

Overview:
The lead cruise staff person acts in concert with the cruise director.
This person acts as a liaison with foreign speaking passengers
insuring that non-English speaking passengers do not feel left out of
any passenger activities. Therefore, he/she must have complete fluency
in three to five languages: English, French, Italian, German, and
Spanish are the most commonly used languages on board.
Translate daily program, give public address announcements in required
languages, and assist at passenger activities and any other duties
that are required of a cruise staff member.
Can be called upon to translate anything at anytime. As directed by
the cruise director, the lead cruise staff person can be called upon
to provide support to the cruise director in any of the social
functions such as the "Captain's Welcome Aboard Cocktail
Party," introduce the captain to passengers, accompany the
Captain at formal affairs, arranges passenger invitations to dine with
the Captain at his dinner table, conducts a certain amount of social
activities geared towards the female passengers and / or singles.
Other duties might include greeting passengers at embarkation and
assist with disembarkation and ensure an adequate inventory of prizes
and supplies.

Overview:
Water sports / Dive Instructors conduct daily dive and snorkeling

shuffleboard, basketball, Olympic games, pool games, etc. Conducts
live interview discussions with

Salary Range & Contract Length:
$2,500-3,500 or cruise free for services rendered.
2-4 weeks free cruising or 3-4 months rotation.

Shipboard Systems / Internet Manager
Overview:
Responsible for the day to day operations of AS/400/Windows, NT/POS
platforms as well as all computer / internet requirements for the ship
and it's passengers (while living onboard a passenger cruise ship).
Requirements:
The position requires a motivated self-starter with 1-2 years AS/400
and Win/NT experience. POS knowledge a plus. Position requires
advanced computer knowledge, proficiency in Microsoft office,
graphics, sales and
managerial experience and excellent customer service skills. Must be
creative, self motivated, multi-task oriented and possess excellent
written and oral communication and presentation skills. Energetic and
outgoing personality is a plus. Internet Savvy a must. Fluent English
Language skills required. The position requires living onboard a
passenger cruise ship for four consecutive months.
Salary Range & Contract Length:
$2700-3200 U.S. per month.
