KASTAWAY ISLAND is a caring place for ministers and teachers of the word of God. The island is a restful oasis in which to reflect, replenish, rediscover, and recuperate. KASTAWAY ISLAND is a 285 foot cruise ship. We painted it up to look like a lush tropical island. Guests are housed in air-conditioned cabins (2 per cabin). There is a chapel, a recreation room, quiet rooms, reading rooms, a theater, a therapeutic hot tub, and lots of sunsets. No distractions. Meals are served all day and there are no formalities to adhere to. |

Several circumstances that bring folks to KASTAWAY ISLAND Retreat are: Dealing with depression and burnout Marital conflict Vocational (forced termination, mid-life crisis, crisis in ministry, etc.) Stress, anxiety, personal crises and related issues Or simply just a desire to escape the temporary burdens shepherds face continuously in ministry. |

Ministers and leaders, must at many times wear a mask in order to do the job, to be there for people in crisis, to run services and meetings. The problem is sometimes they get stuck behind that mask. You can lose yourself and lose the whole purpose of being in the ministry field. Many of you are in the process of rediscovering yourself and your purposes. In that process, you may discover that your masks are unhealthy, stemming from pain and dysfunction that have been a part of your life. Contrary to her purpose; the Church is very often not a safe place to remove our masks. Being real is often discouraged instead of promoted. |

KASTAWAY ISLAND is a place where people are free to be themselves, with real emotions, real issues, a place to discover the tremendous ocean of love and grace that God has for people who just want a place to relax, replenish and refuel. When leaders look at and deal with their own issues, they are able to lead others deeper into the process of discovering God's love and grace for them in their issues. As this happens, the Church is going to be able to manifest what she is, an instrument of love, grace, and mercy, bringing God's heart to the world. |
